Healthy Basement Systems Case Studies: Waterproofing of Basement & Crawl Space
Challenge
This home in West Sayville, NY had a mold and water problem. This happened because water was getting into their basement and crawl space, and as a result of the excess water building up it created mold. The home owners knew the dangers of mold and immediately called Healthy Basement Systems. Our Systems Design Expert Gabriel Ryan promised removal of the mold and recommended a series of products to ensure no more water would enter the basement and cause the mold to grow back.
Solution
First, Foreman Travis and his production team made sure to remove all the mold within both the basement and crawl space. They used CleanStart Plus to accomplish this. After removing all the harmful mold, the team got to work on waterproofing the basement and crawl space. Since the owners have had consistent problems with water entering the basement, it was crucial to make sure the basement was properly waterproofed. To waterproof the floors, the team first placed down drainage matting, followed by laying CleanSpace over it. CleanSpace is a vapor barrier that effectively prevents seepage's and leaks from entering the basement. For the walls, they installed SilverGlo with CleanSpace placed over it. Again, this causes a vapor barrier and catches all the water leakages. The CleanSpace on the floors and walls were combined with the SuperSump, a three in one sump pump. All the captured water would be filtered straight into the heavy duty sump pump and safely disposed away from the premises of the house. For extra protection, the family also had the top of the line SaniDry Sedona Dehumudifier installed. Humidity causes leaks in the floors and walls which in turn causes mold. The sedona dehumidifier prevents mold and is energy efficient. With the combination of these products, this home no longer needs to worry about water and mold infiltrating their basement and crawl space.
