A homeowner in Babylon, New York had a basement that would leak whenever it rained outside, creating a three-foot puddle in their basement with each passing storm. Due to the basement leak, they could only utilize a part of their basement for fear of ruining any belongings in the area. After sending one of our specialists to inspect their basement, they recommended installing a basement waterproofing system if the homeowner wanted their basement to be completely dry and usable. Our waterproofing system works by jackhammering a trench around the perimeter of the basement so we can install our WaterGuard system. Our WaterGuard system captures and directs any water that enters the basement into our TripleSafe sump pump system, which collects and discharges the water back outside, creating a dry, usable basement. To ensure that the basement remains completely dry and usable, we installed our SaniDry dehumidifier, which removes any moisture, mold, or mildew particles from the air, creating a dry and healthy environment.

This homeowner in Babylon, NY lives right on the water and their crawl space would fill up with water as the tides would change. They wanted to make his crawl space into a dry usable environment and gave us a call to come inspect the crawl space. The customer called us in to assess their crawlspace. They had a pre-existing sump pump that was old and not performing well. They also wanted to learn more about sealing out the crawlspace and dehumidifying the area. Andrew Bouchard, one of our system design specialists, did a thorough inspection of the space and developed a system that would keep the crawlspace dry all the time.

We upgraded their pump system with the SuperSump pump system. The SuperSump pump features a WaterWatch alarm system which will sound off if water rises above the point where the pump should turn on, allowing the homeowner ample time to address any issues before damage occurs. The airtight lid also allows for more storage space on the floor and keeps objects from falling into the sump hole. We then attached a discharge line, and installed the SaniDry Sedona to dehumidify the air and filter out any mold particles in the air.

The customer was pleased with the work Andrew and the foremen did on the job, and they do not need to worry about their crawlspace getting water damage anymore. 

Mr. and Mrs.S had lived in the home for 27 years and they have a basement connected to the crawl space (combo). The basement section is fully renovated and is turned into a den. However, the crawl space section has uneven concrete floors, fiberglass insulation hanging down and has two vents which in the winter allow freezing cold air to come in - which in turn makes the floors in the kitchen upstairs very cold.

The reason Mrs.S called Healthy Basement Systems was actually not particularly common. The reason was because she got tired of the crawl space looking the way it does, with its ugly walls and just not having a presentative look to it.

We were happy to encapsulate the crawl space for her. In detail, we ended up putting insulation foam board on the concrete floors, which made it significantly softer, then we put our patented 20mil CleanSpace liner right over the foam. The walls were insulated with SilverGlo, the patented 10R insulation boards with great looking reflective surface to preserve the heat. Lastly the vents were sealed to prevent cold air from coming in.

The result was fantastic! A crawl space with clean, white, soft floors and silver walls. While Mrs.S primarily just wanted to have a great looking crawl space, she can even store stuff in it and it's comfortable to crawl in there!
